Every Silkbody garment begins with a tiny silk caterpillar; these fussy eaters only eat freshly picked mulberry leaves. The caterpillar spins a cocoon with a single thread that can be 15 km in length. Up to 600 cocoons are unwound to be made into a single garment.

Silk is made of proteins, like our skin, so the fabric works with our body to form a second skin, trapping warm air and maintaining body temperature. The silk fibre is exothermic, releasing energy as heat when absorbing moisture and eliminating the chill-off factor.
